Thanks for writing this poem Emma. It captures a lot of what I feel. Compassion for others makes us human, without it we are are lost. I wish there were more Jewish voices against Isreali aggression in the world. I read your newsletters and treasure your writing and "brave space" much love, your cousin, Jill
Thanks so much, Jill. I appreciate your comments and support. It’s why I moved to publish Dear Palestine as fast (and as slow - some poems took over 30 years) as I did. People were urging me to get it out as soon as the genocide began. When I tried speaking up in the early 90s, your Dad got upset, and then he turned that into curiosity. I told him what I was researching, showed him what I was reading (a book by a congressman who was pushed out of office for not supporting Israel) and your Dad was so supportive of me after that. Most Jews just got mad and rejected my claims. None of us will be safe until we all are.
