I believe we are all inherently creative beings. You know what you want to do. It is mostly a matter of giving yourself the space and time and permission to do it.
If you have critics or judges in your head yelling at you, please see me privately. I can help you with that. And it won't be like endless therapy.
If you are on a healing journey, I can help you with that too. Brave Space helps with both these issues.
14 Things BRAVE SPACE can do for you:
Jumpstart your brain and get you writing again
Help you build a regular writing practice (or any kind of creative practice)
Provide motivation and accountability
Introduce you to new poets and poems
Inspire you to generate new work
Give you new ways to enter the piece you're struggling with
Present craft tips for whatever you're working on
Get you out of writers block or a rut
Gift you with nurturing and inspiring feedback
Allow for some creative release and fun ways to approach your work
Offer you an engaged community of writers
Grant you a window into the process and struggle of other creatives
Increase your capacity for kindness, especially toward yourself
Make you feel less alone
Writing Prompt:
Here is a typical warm-up prompt, the first prompt on the pages of prompts I write for each week. I apologize to my regular Brave Space attendees for posting something you’ve already seen, but I want to let people know what to expect in Brave Space. There’s always a warm-up. This was last week’s:
Warm up with SKIN - what is your or your characters' relationship to skin? What about the things we do to our skin, tattoos or marks or ways we care for our skin? Who is comfortable or uncomfortable in their own skin? When did that change? How did that change? How does that or might that change? What causes transformation within one's skin? What would one have to do to achieve that? Is there a story your family tells about something that happened to someone's skin - a scar, a sunburn, a situation? Or because of someone's skin? Is there a memory you have of a loved one's skin? A scent? A sensuous moment? Have you or your characters experienced the skin to skin moment of mothering a newborn? How do you or your characters relate to other people's skin? Is there a metaphor you can create about skin? Write for 5 or more minutes (set a timer) without stopping. List all the skin ideas that arise. Let one take you on its ride.
