A Prompt & Announcements from Hiatus
and the schedule for Brave Space just in case you need it
Not posting today, but wanted to make sure you all have the schedule for Brave Space and the announcements, and I’ve added a prompt from this past week in Brave Space because why not?
Writing Prompt:
Look at the MIDPOINT of your story/play. Here is a kind of hinge moment, and moving forward from this moment is a point of no return, especially if you're writing tragedy, but also in a drama or comedy via character decision. (And a decision is an event!)
What is the MIDPOINT? It's a place where nothing - it turns out - is as it seems. There is a kind of great reversal here or revelation. This can provide forward motion, and/or it can also provide wonder as in amazement. You are creating something propulsive here to drive your protagonist to act, usually based on some kind of rethinking.
Sometimes the underneath starts to show… the deep inner need may be revealed to the protagonist who was up to now going after their surface want.
If things are not what they seem, then what are they? What decision does your protagonist need to make here? How does that decision (event) propel the character forward? Free-write your answers, and let me know how it goes! What defines your MIDPOINT?

Each week Tuesdays are days to workshop up to a page of writing. Each month there are 2 Sharing Salons. Wednesday night mid-month and Friday end of month when you can share up to 10 minutes of your work.
